Worksheet 01

The one most people have never done.

The Account Inventory asks one thing: put every account you own on the same page at the same time — including ones from former employers you haven't thought about in years.

Most professionals have never done this. Not because they're not paying attention. Because nobody ever asked them to.

"There's more capital than they realised. And more fee drag than they realised. Because nobody had ever put everything together before."

The worksheet calculates your effective total fee rate across all accounts simultaneously. For most people, it's the first time they've seen that number.

Account Inventory — Illustrative
401k — Current Employer$284,0001.20%
401k — Former Employer$118,5001.60%
Traditional IRA$96,2000.85%
Brokerage Account$142,8000.45%
Whole Life — Cash Value$58,5002.40%
Total Portfolio$700,0001.47% avg
20-year fee drag (7% gross growth)
$700K × (1.07²⁰ − 1.0553²⁰)
−$556,000 foregone

Worksheet 03

Your retirement number
in three steps.

The Finish Line Calculator does one thing most high earners have never done — gives them a specific, calculated destination.

Not "probably around $3–4 million." A precise figure, adjusted for inflation, stress-tested across three scenarios.

Illustrative figures — adjust inputs to your situation.

Step 01 Target monthly income in retirement $10,000/mo
Step 02 Inflate 15 years at 3% — 2040 dollars $187,000/yr
Step 03 Retirement capital target (÷ 4% rule) $4.67M

The right starting point

Is this for you?

The toolkit is built for a specific professional. Be honest with which column you're in.

This is for you if —
  • You're 40–48, earning $300K or more in household income
  • You've never put all your accounts on the same page at the same time
  • You contribute to retirement accounts but don't know if it's enough
  • You've never calculated your specific retirement capital target
  • You have a quiet sense the path you're on might not lead exactly where you intended
  • You want an honest picture before making any bigger decisions
This probably isn't for you if —
  • You're early in your career and haven't started investing yet
  • You already have a comprehensive financial plan you review regularly
  • You're looking for specific investment recommendations (this is educational)
  • You want someone to tell you everything is fine

Why this toolkit exists

I built it from the gaps.

I spent fifteen years earning well and doing the conventional things — maxing the 401k, trusting the advisor, accumulating accounts. On paper, I was doing everything right. What I didn't have was a map.

I didn't know my retirement number. I'd never calculated what my total fee rate was costing me. I had no way to see the gap between where I was heading and where I wanted to go.

In 2018, I took a $45,000 loss on two investments I had no business making — not because I was reckless, but because I was deploying capital without a framework. The Account Inventory in this toolkit is the starting point I didn't have.

I built this for the professional in their 40s who is doing everything they're supposed to do — and still can't clearly answer the question: where do I land at 60?

The toolkit is free. It's the first step. The work starts when you look honestly at the numbers it produces.

Common questions

Before you download

Straight answers.

A single Excel workbook with five working worksheets — Account Inventory, Net Worth Snapshot, Finish Line Calculator, Fee Impact Analysis, and Structural Faults Diagnostic. All formulas are live: you enter your numbers and the calculations run automatically. It is not a PDF, a video course, or a reading assignment. It is a working financial diagnostic tool.
No. The Retirement Clarity Toolkit is an educational tool. It gives you a clearer picture of your own situation so you can have better conversations with your financial advisor, tax professional, and attorney. It does not replace qualified professional advice. Nothing in this toolkit should be taken as a personalised financial recommendation.
The toolkit is an .xlsx file. It works in Microsoft Excel (recommended), Google Sheets, and Apple Numbers. The Finish Line Calculator uses formulas that require at least Excel 2016 or a current version of Google Sheets.
The Account Inventory takes most people 20–30 minutes the first time. The Finish Line Calculator takes under 5 minutes once you have your numbers. The full toolkit completed thoroughly takes 60–90 minutes.
The toolkit arrives in your inbox immediately. You'll also receive a short education sequence — a handful of emails that walk through how to use the key worksheets. The next step, if you want to go further, is the Money Map assessment — a $97 diagnostic that builds on what the toolkit reveals.
No. The toolkit is free because it is the honest starting point. If you work through it and never spend a dollar with Midlife to Millions, the toolkit still did its job.

You can't navigate from a location you haven't identified.

The Account Inventory is 20 minutes of honest work most high earners have never done.
